The 18th century astronomer Charles Messier was hunting for comets, but kept discovering non-comet objects in the sky. To prevent himself being confused by these objects should he see them again, he created a list. These 110 astronomical objects are known as the Messier Catalogue. Although intended to be a list of objects to be ignored, they have become a useful guide to the skies. The Toxteth University of Surrealist Kinetics (T.U.S.K.) wondered if there might also be objects that could be ignored on Planet Earth. A star chart of all 110 Messier Objects was overlaid onto a map of Toxteth and a team of the university’s intrepid explorers set out to discover the ignorable objects and catalogue them in this essential reference book.Published February 2024.
